Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 9, 2026

PrivacyGuard is a Chrome extension that detects sensitive data before it is sent to AI chat tools. This policy explains what data is processed and how it is protected.

1. Data processed by the extension

PrivacyGuard scans text that you type or paste into supported input fields in your browser. The extension may detect API keys, passwords, private keys, credit card numbers, SSN, national IDs, emails, phone numbers, JWT tokens, database connection strings, and similar sensitive data.

2. Local scanning

Sensitive data detection runs locally in your browser. We do not upload scanned text, detected secrets, AI chat content, or detection results to our servers.

3. Browser permissions

The extension uses the Chrome storage permission to save your settings and scan counters. It uses site access so it can detect text entered into supported AI chat websites and browser input fields. Site access is used only to provide the scanning and warning features.

4. Data stored locally

Settings, scan counters, and license status may be stored in Chrome extension storage on your device. You can clear this data by resetting extension settings or uninstalling the extension.

5. License verification

If you purchase PrivacyGuard Pro, we may process your email address, license key, plan status, and purchase metadata to verify your license and unlock paid features. Payment details are processed by our payment provider and are not stored by PrivacyGuard.

6. Payments

Payments are handled by Paddle or another payment provider shown at checkout. The payment provider may process billing details, tax information, and payment method details according to its own privacy policy.

7. No sale of personal data

We do not sell personal data. We do not use scanned text for advertising, profiling, or AI model training.
